'Renegade' returns ....almost!

BLOG

.....Her reputation as an international traveller, voyages including many Atlantic Crossings, numerous Caribbean and Meditarranean seasons, twice around the world, Japan, Indonesia and the Indian Ocean, Australia, New Zealand and most recently Eastern Europe, the sun and sea reducing her reputation to 'the yacht with the questionable paint job'. Having been left to survive the Oceans waters since 2002 (the last engineering refit), '99 being her last interior refit and '98 her last coat of paint, 'Renegade' is finally being returned to her former glory.

..... November 2006, work began in Barcelona shipyard, www.mb92.com. As the welders, cutters, dayworkers, surveyors, yard workers, designers, project managers step aboard with 'we'll do this' and 'we'll do that' and 'we'll cut here and weld here' and 'rip this apart'; alongside a panicking stewardess desperately trying to protect the interior, it comes to light that this is going to be one extensive refit!

.....First to be dismantled is Renegade's life, her pulse, the Bridge. A total overhaul, including a new integrated black box bridge with radars, sounder, plotter etc, along with a new Gyro www.e3s.com , new VSAT, new Seatel, 'SiMON' monitoring system www.PalladiumTechs.com , and a new GMDSS station. Quite a painful time, particularly for the First Mate having been on board for 3 years to see her ripped apart from the inside out. Unknown pipes and wires all having to be traced and labeled (unfortunately for the poor dayworkers, a frustrating job!).

.....An exciting day at the beginning of '07 was the removal of the mast, also to be replaced with a brand new one, to look down upon the complete re-modeling of the sundeck with an impressive bar being placed, for those sunny soires. (see attached architectural drawings and artists impressions)

.....Down Under, in the most important area, the crew quarters, with every stews dream, a newly relocated luxurious laundry, the old being transformed into a new crew cabin.

.....Moving Aft to the main deck, we have a newly fabricated seat being installed, this area becoming an exterior lounge.

.....And last but not least, the real heart of a yacht, her engine room overhaul. A new plumbers wrench, a toilet plunger and a variety of new light bulbs with even the possibility of a brand new set of screwdrivers. Oh, and a specific engineer request, a seasons supply of PG Tips.

.......On a more serious note:

  • Main engines having a W5 overhaul
  • Generators having full overhaul
  • New shore power handling system
  • New aircon plant
  • New refrigeration plant
  • Pipeworks and pumps relocated to make engine room more user friendly
  • Generator exhaust system modifications.

.....We will be updating the "Photo Album" and "BLOG"on a regular basis with before and after photographs, as well as on going works being performed, so every one can see the extent of this re-fit, and appreciate her when she is to be re launched in June, carrying the same famous 'Renegade' name.
